MARIST HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC FIELDS, CHICAGO
W-T Civil Engineering is proud to have been chosen by DLA Architects and Marist High School to design the new synthetic turf soccer/football field and two natural grass baseball fields. The turf was produced and installed by FieldTurf and includes their “Revolution” fiber which is their newest carpet fiber in an alternating green pattern (giving it a freshly mowed aesthetic). This field was one of the first “Revolution” fiber fields in the Chicago area. The project included a detention pond, which helped reduce the peak stormwater runoff by 80%, thus reducing the flooding risk of the
downstream 115th Street. With this project, W-T Civil Engineering has designed 35 synthetic turf fields. At an average of 20,000 tires per field, that equates to 700,000 used tires that have avoided landfill. Jason Green oversaw the project design. Jason speaks and attends conferences throughout the country on the topic of synthetic turf. Jason is currently working on a groundbreaking advancement that may reduce required stormwater detention volumes by 25% in some Chicago area jurisdictions.
