Millikin University Synthetic Turf
W-T Civil Engineering is proud to have been involved with BLDD Architects and Millikin University for the design of the upcoming synthetic turf at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois. The design is now complete and fundraising is well underway. With this project, W-T Civil Engineering has been involved with over 30 synthetic turf field designs. At an average of 20,000 tires per field, that equates to more than 600,000 used tires that have avoided landfill.
Millikin’s first football game was held in fall 1904 against Illinois Wesleyan. Millikin won 34-0, establishing football as a cornerstone for Big Blue athletics. Through the years, the elements required to maintain a successful program have changed, including the playing field.
The last major upgrade to the football field was completed more than 20 years ago. Currently, the field has a natural grass surface with incomplete drainage, which limits usage primarily to game day to avoid the risk of damage. The installation of a new synthetic turf (architect’s rendering at right) will allow games and practices to be held on the same resilient field.

2010 American Football Coaches Foundation- Power of Influence Golf Outing at Ivanhoe Country Club
Jason Green of W-T Civil Engineering, LLC attended the American Football Coaches Foundation fundraiser on June 28th at the Ivanhoe Country Club. The Foundation was established in 1998 to ensure that the high school, colleges and university coaching communities have the finest possible professional development and educational tools. It is also important to note that that these benefits help all coaches and schools, whether their school is small or large, rich or poor and urban or rural. The American Football Coaches Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Its specific responsibility is to seek contributions from a broad range of donors - friends, businesses, corporations, foundations and trusts, to support and implement existing AFCA educational programs; and, to develop exciting and dynamic new initiatives that will serve the coaches, the student- athletes, and the schools they represent. The highlight of Jason’s day was to meet and actually play in the same 6some as Kevin Butler, kicker of the Chicago Bears from 1985 to 1995, obviously including his rookie season with the 1985 superbowl champions. Even growing up in Canada and only being 2 years old at the time (yes, that is a joke), Jason clearly remembers that magical season.

W-T Civil Approved FRWRD Sewer Inspectors
Jason Green and Ryan Blocker of W-T Civil Engineering, LLC are moving down in the world. They were recently approved as sewer inspectors within the Fox River Water Reclamation District (FRWRD) jurisdictional area. While it might be a less than glamorous task, sewers had better work. After all, sewers are not a high priority on most people’s minds until they fail to function properly. We are standing tall and are proud to offer this service to our clients.
Latest Bi-Annual Volunteerism; Painting the Playground at Barbara O'Rahilly Volunteer Park for the Carol Stream Park District
Employees and the families of W-T Civil Engineering and Brusseau Design Group spent a Friday this month painting the playground at the O’Rahilly Volunteer Park in Carol Stream. Brusseau Design Group designed the original park 15 years ago. It was still in good working condition, however, the Park District recognized that it needed a coat of paint. Fun was had by all and the Park District was very appreciative. Park District Executive Director Arnie Biondo took time out of his incredibly hectic day to stop by to personally thank the workers. Before we were done, the Park District had already heard compliments about how nice the NEW playground equipment looked. It may sound like a cliché, but we truly were blessed to serve.
