Q&A with Wesley Triphahn, Plumbing Engineer & Project Manager, MEP Engineering

Walk through your educational background:

  • My journey into engineering began with my education at Harper College, where I pursued an Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering. This laid a solid foundation for me to further my studies at Northern Illinois University, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

What do you like about Engineering?

  • What I like most about engineering are the variety of projects that come my way. I particularly enjoy the calculations involved and witnessing the tangible results of my designs being installed.

Describe your career path:

  • Engineering has always fascinated me since childhood, especially as I aspired to join my family's business and follow in their footsteps.

What exciting projects have you worked on?

  • One project that stands out for me is the design of a Cold Storage Facility, which was particularly challenging due to its extensive nature and the requirement to adhere to LEED standards. It demanded a meticulous approach to design and implementation, and seeing it come to fruition was incredibly satisfying.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

  • The most rewarding part of my job would be seeing the completion of a project, as well as the opportunity to offer assistance and tackle challenges when issues arise.
