Another Great IAPD/IPRA Conference in the Books!

February 12, 2020

WT Group wrapped up involvement in this year’s IAPD/IPRA Conference, which brought together over 4,200 professionals and elected officials from the Illinois park and recreation community.  Each year, WT attends to network and connect with industry colleagues through educational sessions, the exhibit hall, and various events.

For the 4th year in a row, WT hosted an event to thank both clients and partners for their loyalty and to “Strike Up Some Fun”, which was the theme this year, held at Lucky Strike in Chicago.  Hosted by CEO Steve Triphahn, and COO Troy Triphahn, over 100 attendees enjoyed an evening filled with networking and, of course, bowling.

Through signage, the WT Group highlighted their relationship with the NationalAssociation of Park Foundations (NAPF), whose vision is to build effective, active, local park foundations to enhance the park experience in local communities.

“We truly value our relationship with the National Association of Park Foundations,” said Steve Triphahn. “They’ve truly set the bar when it comes to providing the information, advocacy and expertise to local park foundations.  Their mission aligns with ours to help strengthen local communities, which directly impacts the quality of life for families and individuals.”

WT’s presence was not to be missed throughout the conference and exhibit hall.  Recognized as a Titanium sponsor, attendees walked up a staircase completely branded WT Group.  Postcards reinforcing WT’s Engineering, Design and Consulting capabilities by “wearing a lot of hats” appeared in each attendee conference bag, which also served as a tactic to stop by the booth to receive a branded travel metal straw.  The booth stood out not only with the bold orange color, but with outstanding and friendly staff ready to welcome new faces and old friends.

John McGovern, Principal-in-Charge, Accessibility Consulting, contributed to the educational programming by leading two sessions titled:

  • ADA, Accreditation, and Your Agency
  • Trends in ADA Enforcement: Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

After the first full day of the conference, WT Group and Williams Architects co-hosted a Welcome Reception Thursday evening where hundreds flowed in and out.

“Coordinating a brand presence of this magnitude requires much planning and dedicated efforts,” said Troy Triphahn.  “I couldn’t be more thrilled with the talented team members that helped plan and also assist onsite.  We definitely kicked off 2020 by Soaring to New Heights!”
